Article Snippet: Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy is a preferred material used in ocean structures, which will be subjected to seawater corrosion fatigue under uniaxial or biaxial stress states in service.. In this research, two different kinds of fatigue tests, including uniaxial (tension) and biaxial (shear dominant) fatigue tests were conducted on the Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy in air (f = 1 Hz) and simulated seawater (f = 1 Hz, 0.5 Hz and 0.2 Hz), respectively.. It indicates that the simulated seawater improves uniaxial fatigue life, but reduces biaxial fatigue life of the Ti-6Al-4V ELI titanium alloy.
